2,119 Cases Filed for Traffic Violations in Dhaka, 499 Vehicles Towed

The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed 2,119 cases against vehicles and drivers for violating traffic laws during an enforcement drive across different parts of the capital.
During the same operation, 499 vehicles were sent to dumping yards and another 210 were towed away.
The DMP Traffic Division disclosed the information on Sunday (August 30).
According to the traffic police, the enforcement drive was conducted across all eight traffic divisions of Dhaka. The highest number of cases was recorded in the Uttara division, where 487 cases were filed against various vehicles.
Division-wise breakdown
The Ramna Traffic Division filed 115 cases, involving six buses, one truck, three covered vans, six CNG-powered auto-rickshaws and 35 motorcycles.
In Lalbagh, a total of 209 cases were filed. These included 11 buses, 12 trucks, two covered vans, 20 CNG auto-rickshaws and 132 motorcycles.
The Motijheel Traffic Division recorded 415 cases. Among them were 55 buses, two trucks, 15 covered vans, 85 CNG auto-rickshaws and 186 motorcycles.
In Wari, traffic police filed 166 cases involving 28 buses, 14 trucks, 18 covered vans, 14 CNG auto-rickshaws and 36 motorcycles.
The Tejgaon division filed 135 cases, including 10 buses, 11 covered vans, 20 CNG auto-rickshaws and 62 motorcycles.
In Mirpur, authorities filed 258 cases against traffic violators. These involved 16 buses, four trucks, 10 covered vans, 33 CNG auto-rickshaws and 141 motorcycles.
Uttara recorded the highest number of cases, with 487 filed against traffic violators. The vehicles involved included 44 buses, two trucks, 18 covered vans, 94 CNG auto-rickshaws and 171 motorcycles.
Meanwhile, 334 cases were filed in the Gulshan traffic division. These included 29 buses, three trucks, 11 covered vans, 29 CNG auto-rickshaws and 128 motorcycles.
The DMP said such enforcement drives will continue as part of its efforts to ensure compliance with traffic laws, improve road discipline and maintain smooth traffic movement across the capital.
